Places to see near Killarney: Logan's Beach Whale Watching
Logan's Beach is one of the observation point for the Victoria's Southern Right Whale Nursery, as well as Port Fairy's East Beach. Here is possible to observe female Southern Right whales that return almost every year to calve, quite often swimming less than a hundred metres from the shore. In summer, these whales live in the sub-Antarctic, while in winter they migrate to warmer waters around the southern areas of Australia.
The Logans Beach Whale Viewing Platforms is one of the best observing pints, it is just to the east of the city, overlooking the whales favourite playground, and best of all it's open at all hours and is free.
Although the first sightings around Logans beach will often occur in early June, the best period to see them is from the end of June to September.
